The Galloways do Busan!

We went to Busan for Memorial day weekend. Busan is on the southern tip of Korea.

It was a weekend of playing and relaxing. The boys had a blast!

This was one of the favorite activities, sliding down the sculpture outside the hotel. Gotta love what entertains my kids!

That's our hotel in the background. The gym is the top floor that you see in that picture, it was very cool to run on the treadmil while watching the beach.

The boys watching the weird Koreans play a very strange game, looked like "Chicken". Two people hold a third person and then they battle it out with other groups. It was humerous to watch.

Along the boardwalk there were these pay as you use them bumper cars. The boys had a great time!

We went to dinner one night with two couples from the squadron (a whole big group of people from the squadron went down to Busan that weekend). This is the two guys, Grant and Andy, they got ahold of my camera and this resulted!

This is one of MANY out door markets here in Korea. They are NOTHING like a European market. All the markets here have all kinds of fish and NASTY stuff. Squid, octopus, eels and other live fish in tanks. That and insects you are supposed to eat! GROSS!!

They do have fruit, but by the time I get to this part I am so grossed out that I can't even think about enjoying food anymore.

SEAWEED!!! GROSS!! And people buy this stuff!!!

Because the weather wasn't nice enough for the beach all weekend we decided to do some of the other attractions in Busan. We got lucky in that the Aquarium was just next door to our hotel. But it wasn't cheap!! The boys starting off the tour.

Who doesn't love penguins!! These were cool too, I could just watch them for a long time. This guy though was awesome, he loved to come right up to the boys (there is still glass between them, obvious b/c he's swimming and all) and go nose to nose with them. It was too cute!!

It really looks like Conner and Cody are petting him here!

Ok, so how many pictures do we have of our boys all lined up in a row. I wonder if all families with a group of kids do this. Our boys, just seem to be in this positioning a lot!

Not so sure if Conner is happy to be in this one. And I have no idea what's up with Bryce's smile!

They also fed the big sting rays that were in the same tank. I LOVE sting rays! They have to be one of my favorite sea creatures. Their just cool.

I love these next couple of shots in the bubble. They are so cute. But this is Sean and Conner cutting in front of about four sets of other children waiting to get their picture taken. So we pulled them all out and lined them up to talk to them. Thus the next picture.

Bryce wasn't so happy to be in trouble. The others still just smile.

Hanging out at the beach. The boys we strictly told that they were NOT to go in the water! It was not warm enough! This is Sean and Cody break dancing, not so sure why.

My handsome husband in front of the ocean that we didn't even know the name to. Our geographical knowledge is just SAD!

One afternoon we were there we decided to hike to the light house that was just at the end of the beach we were staying on. It was a great hike, mostly on boarded walk ways. There was one section that was closed off, so we trekked up in to the hill to get around it and still see the light house. This statue was just off the point. Kind of cool.

The path was like this the whole way, it was so nice!

Koreans do funny things, this is just one of them. We walked up to this group of photographers with cameras almost on the ground, but on tripods and water in front of them. I kept looking at what they were photographing and couldn't see what was so amazing about it, but it must have been a class or something. I can't say that I wouldn't have love to be taking a class like that. But it was a little strange to see all these people in a tight bundle and every so often these two men would dump water on the ground in front of them so that they could get a reflection of the boat and buildings.

The boys, being boys, wanted to go play in the ocean. We knew the weather was really only nice enough on Monday, so we put them off until then, but come Monday they were ready! The water was FREEZING, and the temps outside were just barely nice enough to not be wearing jackets, but they were determined! We kept thinking the kids were going to start turning purple, but they never did and no one complained about being cold either. They had a great time and we only called it quits when Cody started acting a little strangely and we thought it might be due to the cold!

This is just too funny. Doug and I have decided that we should set up a booth and start charging about 10 dollars to have your picture taken with the Galloway boys. The Korean girls LOVE to do this. Ok, as do some men as we saw at the Aquarium. Thankfully the boys are good about it, but we had to call them all together from their separate playing places to take this photo. They think it's funny. Some of our friends kids don't do so well with it and really freak out with all the attention, our children eat it up!!

So we got this recomendation to go to this beach from this American guy who lived in Busan. His Korean girlfriend even wrote down the name of the beach so we could give it to the cab driver (the cab drivers speak almost NO English!). So we give it to the cabby and off we go. The cab driver really looks like he thinks this beach idea of ours is a little strange, but ok, a cab fare is a cab fare. He did try to communicate to us that there was a better place that he could take us to, but apon looking at the map it looked too far away. So we opted to just go to our beach. Once we go to the beach it turned out that it was more of a fishing depot, and it was a little shadey. So once again the cab driver mentioned there was another place we could go and finally we aggreed. So off we went to the Budihst temple on the water. Thankfully the cab driver asked us how long we would be there and he waited for us, because I have NO idea how we would have gotten our hotel across to a new cab driver. Really English is hardly spoken by most people here. Nothing like Europe!! But thankfully the temple turned out to be pretty cool and was much neater than the random fishing docks!

Not totally sure what this strange Korean was doing, I think his hand was supposed to be on Buddahs head, maybe it was from his girlfriends view point, but I just thought it'd be a funny picture.
